FAQ's

How do I register my child?
We try to make our registration process simple by either filling in the form online or emailing your interest.
What is your registration policy?

What forms do I need to complete for registration?
We will need the completed General Registration, Student Waiver and full payment before the start of term to deem your child registered. Any incomplete forms or late payment may result in delaying your child's start date.
Is there a registration deadline?
Yes, the registration deadline is 1 week before term commences
Is there a Registration Fee?
Yes, there is a small registration fee for all new students

What discounts do you offer?
At SDC we believe in making dance affordable for all. We offer a Sibling Discount and Multi-class Discount.
Who is eligible for the Sibling Discount?
If you have more than one child attending SDC and is attending 2 or more classes. This does not apply to Dance Clinics or our SDC Collective.
Who is eligible for the Multi-class Discount?
If your child is registered for three or more classes they may receive the 4th class at 50% off. This does not apply to Dance Clinics or our SDC Collective.
Can I use both discounts at the same time?
No you will only be allowed to use one discount at any given time.

How will I receive the invoice?
A term invoice will be sent via email within 24hrs of receiving completed Registration Forms. Please check your junk/spam folder.
How do I make payment for the term?
Payment can be made via BACs, payment details will be provided on the invoice. NO cash or cheques accepted.
What if I don't make payment in time?
Any late payments will incur a small £20 late fee and your child will be placed on a waiting list until payment has been received.
What is included in the Term Fees?
The term fees include a fee for the mandatory SDC T-shirt, which your child will receive within their first two weeks of joining.
Can I receive a refund if I cancel during term?
No, fees are non-refundable once term starts.
I need to cancel a class, are my fees transferable to the next term?
No, term fees are non-transferable for the next term instead a credit note will be given to use for the existing term.

Do we have to pay for a Taster Class?
Yes each Taster class is only £5, payable via Bank Transfer before the session starts!
How classes can my child join?
Your child can try as many as they want as long as its within their appropriate level.
What classes can my child join?
Your child can join our recreational classes, although a couple classes will have a level restriction based on new students needing to be assessed into the correct level, ie. Acrobatic Arts. Classes eligible for our Taster Week are: Progressing Ballet Technique, Acrobatic Arts (Primary or Level 1 only), Lyrical Contemporary, Jazz Technique and Stretch & Flex.
Can I just drop into a class mid-term?
Yes but classes must be booked online via our Registration Form
What do I wear for the Taster Class?
Please wear something comfortable but not baggy, ie. Leggings, T-shirt, and bare feet. Also please equip your child with a bottle of water.
Do I need to register before the Taster Class?
Yes you will need to register before attending the Taster Week in order to receive the appropriate forms.

Is there a maximum amount of students per class?
Yes we have a maximum of 10 students per class to allow our instructors to deliver qualitative lessons. If our classes exceed this amount we will do our best to accommodate our dancers with another class.
Is there a waitlist?
Yes, places are secured on a first come first served basis. If the class is already full, and there is not enough interest to open another class, your child will be placed on a waitlist until a space becomes available.
How do you determine what level my dancer should be in?
For our two syllabus classes: Progressing Ballet Technique and Acrobatic Arts, we require all students to start at the first level and progress their way up to the next level. For other recreational classes, students are placed within their age group. If your dancer is ready technically, they may be invited by the Director to join an older group to continue challenging their training.
Can I request a level for my child?
This is something to discuss with the Director, however it is under the Directors discretion to ensure that all students are in the appropriate levels for your child's safety and development.

How do I book a dance clinic?
Dance clinics are secured on a first come first served basis. Clinics can be booked online or by email.
Can I book more than one dance clinic?
Yes, you may book more than one dance clinic
What is the minimum time limit per clinic?
Our Tricks & Turns and Flexibility & Leg Extensions are a minimum of 30mins per session. Choreography clinics are a minimum of 4hrs which can be split between two 2hr sessions.
Performance & Audition clinics are a minimum of 2hrs.
How can I make payment for sessions?
Payments are made in block bookings for a term. Payments are accepted by BACs only and must be made before the first session.
How are dance clinics scheduled?
Dance clinics are available based on the Directors availability. Available Sessions will be announced at start of each term. We will do our best to accommodate all our students where and when possible.
Where are clinics held?
Clinics are primarily held in a studio setting however can also be requested at home depending on spacing.
Payment plans for Dance Clinics?
Block bookings will be prioritised over singular lessons. A block booking will be for the duration of the term, approx. 8 weeks. If your child would like to continue lessons throughout the season, you will be required to renew your booking per term.

What is the attire for recreational classes?
All SDC Students are required to wear our mandatory SDC T-shirt to all classes. Please view the full list of attire per class:
Progressing Ballet Technique: Ballet Leotard, Pink Transitional Tights, Ballet Bun, Dance Socks (optional)
Acrobatic Arts: Leotard or Sports Bra, Shorts, No socks or shoes
Jazz Technique, Lyrical Contemporary and Stretch & Flex: SDC T-shirt, shorts or leggings, Lyrical and/or Jazz shoes. Dance socks are optional.
What is the attire for SDC Collective?
For training, SDC Members are required to wear their SDC T-shirt or SDC Sports Bra and SDC Leggings along with their dance shoes.
For performances, members are required to wear their SDC branded Sweater and Sweat Pants.

How do I audition for SDC Youth Collective?
Interested candidates are required to attend our annual SDC Youth Collective Auditions. Private auditions may be considered in the event you cannot attend the auditions on the day.
When and how are audition results announced?
All candidates will receive feedback and results within 48hrs of attending the audition. Successful candidates will receive a contract for the season.
Requirements for SDC Youth Collective?
Members are required to have adequate ballet and jazz technique, be able to pick up choreography and have the self-determination to challenge and better themselves in each training session. Members must also be 11+.
What are the training days for SDC Youth Collective Members?
Members are required to attend Saturdays at 10-1pm as well as attending a Progressing Ballet Technique class. Training Classes on Saturdays include Commercial Street Dance, Lyrical Contemporary and Technique Conditioning.
Will there be additional rehearsals?
Members will be required to prioritise mandatory additional rehearsals before any event. These rehearsals will be announced in advance and held during the week.
How many performance opportunities do SDC Youth Collective members have in a season?
Members will have the opportunity to perform in at least 5-7 performances, including our SDC Choreography Showcase, The Collective Music Videos, SDC Annual Showcase as well as festivals.
