SDC Policies

Registration & Invoice Policy

Our registration process is simple and easy.

- Any interest must be submitted either online or by email.

- An invoice and all registration documents will be sent by email

- Once the full invoice has been paid, you will receive our SDC Handbook within 48hrs

- A late fee will be applied for any overdue fees

Please note that students are not fully registered until both forms and full payment has been received.

Students will be placed on a waiting list until paperwork and term fees have been paid before the season commences.

There will be a small compulsory registration fee for new students. The registration fees cover your child's mandatory SDC T-shirt for when they join. 

Drop Off/ Pick Up Policy

-Please ensure that your child arrives 10 mins before class in order to prepare.

- Please make sure your child uses the toilet either before or after class to avoid disruptions to the class. Younger students we are aware of minor toilet breaks between classes.

- If arriving late, students must enter the classroom quietly and warm up independently

- Please make sure to pick your child up on time

- SDC faculty are required to wait with your child for up to 10mins

- Students under 13 will be required to be picked up by their parent/guardian

- Students 13-16, we require parents to complete a permission form to release students immediately after class.

- Students 16+ are allowed to go home by themselves after class ends

- Please notify us at least 24hrs advance by email of any other adult picking up your child otherwise they will not be released due to our safe guarding policy.

Illness/ Injury Policy

- Parents must notify us by email or text of any injuries or illness before classes start

- Please do not send your child in if they are symptomatic, ie coughing, fever, vomiting etc.

- For minor injuries and non-contagious sickness, your child will be encouraged to sit and observe to avoid missing classes

- For any major injuries, we may request a doctors note and make arrangements for next steps whilst your child recovers.

- If your child becomes ill or injured within the lesson, parents/ guardians will be notified immediately or after the lesson. (please make sure all of your contact details are up to date)

Absence Policy

- Any planned absences related to school events or holidays must be submitted by email at the start of the term.

- Students may receive up to three make-up classes throughout the season (September to June). These make-up classes are only eligible for recreational classes, not our SDC Collectives or Dance Clinics. 

- Any additional makeup class will be subject to a tuition fee.

Cancellation/ Refund Policy

- All fees are non-refundable and non-transferable once the season starts

- Any cancellations will require at least two weeks notice

- A credit note will be given for your child to join another recreational class.

- Credit notes cannot be used towards Dance clinics, costume fees or events fees.

- Credit notes only apply for that term only and will expire after the term.

Student Attire Policy

For the safety of our students, we require all students to wear the appropriate SDC attire and dance shoes

- No socks, dangling necklaces or jewellery

- Please tie long hair up and away from the face

-SDC Attire can be ordered online or by email

Student/Parent Code of Conduct

- Students must arrive prepared 10 mins before class starts

- Mobile phones must be turned onto airplane mode or silent and kept in bags

- Please place belongings along allocated wall inside the studio

- No street shoes in the studio

- No leaning against mirrors

- No sitting down during class unless allowed by teacher

- No talking during lesson

- No parents are allowed in the studio unless for our allocated Parent Observation Weeks at the end of term.

- If arriving late to class, please quietly enter warm-up on the side before joining in

- Please respect all teachers and guest artists

Bullying & Harassment Policy

 

At SDC we have a strict NO bullying/harassment Policy. Any students or parents displaying any bullying or harassment towards SDC students or teachers, they will be requested to leave the premise and SDC with immediate effect. There will be no refunds or credits given.

Social Media Policy

- After receiving the completed Student Waiver Form, SDC reserve the right to post photos and videos of SDC related content on all social media platforms to positively promote SDC.

- Students and parents must request permission from the teacher to film or take photos in class

- Please make sure to appropriately tag The Sussex Dance Company on all media posts

- SDC has the right to request any media be taken down immediately if it reflects negatively on the school.
